(The video may be played whilst you continue with this page. Turn up the volume but best heard on external speaker's or with the use of ear-phone headset)

Enjoy and be blessed!

WELCOME TO THE PAGES OF V - OWNERS GROUP

(This website is presented to you the reader, cognisant of many shortcomings in grammar, spelling and composition and pleads the reader, some latitude and the capacity to accommodate these flaws and to be satisfied instead with the otherwise intelligent transfer of information. Thank you!)

WE GREET YOU AS FOLLOWS . . . . .

"VO2" greeting (done with the left hand when riding & left or right when not) From left to right:

Open hand symbolises a greeting of  "Hi"

Forefinger & middle finger in "V" symbolises the word "Vee" as in V engine

Thumb & forefinger forming an "O" symbolises "Owner"

Forefinger and middle finger forming a "V" again, rotated back and forth, this time symbolises 2  -  the two of us as in  "From me to you"

Thus the signing say's :

VO2 from me to you!!!

What VOG is:

VOG is founded on Christian precepts identified in the Apostles Creed as read by universal Holy Christian Churches.

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth;  And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried.  The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Amen!)

Being a committed Christian is not a condition of enrollment in VOG, nor is membership confined to or exclusive to practicing Christians and whether God fearing or not so persuaded, biker’s of any religion, creed, culture or ethnic group may enroll and thus join hands in fellowship with VOG.

Our ministry is the extending of an open hand of brotherhood / sisterhood, in spite of our different backgrounds. Drawn initially thru the gift of ownership, we can now as adult biker’s and by the Grace of God find each other peacefully and coexist in our passion for biking.

VOG as a group brings together mature owners of big vee engined machines nationally, (International memberships are available) or wherever such owners exist, to share common interest, enjoy occasional group outings (see below) & provide a group structure & service that would benefit owners in the reasonable maintenance of their motorcycles. VOG is constantly seeking concessions from suppliers to benefit the owner of a big vee machine. Membership in VOG adds value to ownership by creating a corporate family of owners nationally, where common interest abounds. Communication is optimised through an internet website, emails, and bulk SMS service.

To enroll  for normal VOG membership you must be the proven owner of a vee engined motorcycle.

V-Twin and V-Four engines are the prime-movers of some of the greatest motorcycles ever built, they are respected, admired and cherished world-wide. The V Twins were perfected from a V Twin design created by inventors such as Gottlieb Daimler who designed his vee engine in 1889.

The V Twin was originally designed to replace the single cylindered engine in the motorised bicycle, mounted inside the “V” frame above the large cog (pedals / gear). It was restricted to a V Twin rather than an "in-line" engine, so as not to exceed the width of the single cylinder it superseded.

What VOG is not!

It is not a local weekend biking club, cannot provide that activity and is not in any way so structured, nor attempts in any manner or form, to compete for that format of membership. VOG is an Owner's Group made up of national / international members who support the oneness of Big Vee ownership.

VOG Rides & Excursions:

VOG has regular run days in Gauteng and Cape Town, which are mostly breakfast / brunch runs but at times these may become a family fun day at a favoured venue, a bring 'n braai day, or take the form of a bash. All these occasions are advertised on our website so that members are kept up to date. VOG does close over certain periods such as some school holiday's when families are otherwise committed.

Tours and Challenges:

VOG Annual Tours:

Annual tours are not a commitment made to the membership but there are occasions when we embark on a planned group tour. These are all inclusive adventures encompassing accommodation and routes to be travelled over a specific period. Watch the website for notices in this regard

VOG Challenges:

These are only for members and their nominated pillion rider (if applicable) who enjoy touring and long distance riding and an official VOG challenge provides either a destination or a route that is to be followed.

These are not races but most require tenacity and some endurance. The intent is always to provide an opportunity to add value to motorcycle ownership so that the owner can discover the amazing new horizons that motorcycling can open up to persons who have a passion for discovery and touring.  A VOG challenge is designed to bring personal fulfilment in having successfully completed a set course.

There is an official  medal awarded to the successful contender for every VOG Challenge. A separate medal for each contender,  the principal member solo and/or two-up with a Pillion partner, both are contenders.

The VOG challenges are varied to suit differing interests, there is the:

  • 4 Point Star - visiting South Africa’s four most extreme compass points by road
  • 9 Provinces Challenge - following a route from wherever you are, thru the 9 provinces of South Africa and back home
  • Lighthouse Challenge  - visiting certain nominated sites of the 48 lighthouses along the coastline, St Lucia to Port Nolloth
  • 12 Apostle Challenge - riding 12 Western Cape mountain passes over two days with a night stop en route
  • Battlefields Challenge  – visiting the battlefields of the country & following the Boer wars, teaching us what we have all but forgotten from history books.
  • Long Rider Challenge - which is the VOG equivalent to an Iron Butt ride. Distance 1000 km to 2500km in a 24 hour time-slot.(see VOG Challenges page)
  • VOG Knuckles Challenge -  Approved in January 2012 for membership participation this 555km nominal distance challenge starts in Machadodorp and ends after travelling thru the JG Strijdom Tunnel. Embracing Mpumalanga and small portion of Limpopo provinces. It is a compulsory two day challenge taking in passes, hills and valley's and intended for enjoyable riding and discovery into the wonders of creation.

VOGTREK - VOG also has an annual get-together where we try to collect membership from all area cells. It started out with a trek to Bethulie and in 2014 was held in Margate. In 2016 - we are looking at holding it in Mossel Bay to coincide with the Buffalo Rally.

Applying for membership:

You may apply for membership through this website. In fact, why not do so right now! Our application forms are not to be found on this website - so to initiate the enrollment process, please email us at    and include the following information in your message:

a) Your Full Name.
b)  Your location - where you reside.
c)  The details of your motorcycle - confirming it is a Vee - powered machine for NORMAL membership.
d) Your date of birth.
e) Your mobile (cellular phone) number
f) Please clearly state whether you are applying for "NORMAL" or "CONTENDER" membership. (See "Other Memberships" below)

Once we receive the message, if eligible, we shall reply with the necessary forms and the process will quickly be finalised.

Of special note, is the fact that normal membership as a vee-owner entitles you to all and any benefits that VOG can extend at any time now and in the future. This includes a vote at meetings and opportunity to enter leadership. However, where there are two principal members in any one household the 2nd principal member is not entitled to vote in the same area or quorum and may not enter leadership in the same area cell as the 1st principal member, if the office is already held by the 1st principal member. This to avoid unfair advantage over other members in the same area cell or quorum. VOG does does not compel you as an individual, to take an active part in the group, nor obligate you to interact with members in an Area Cell, nor participate in any VOG rides or runs that are arranged at any time by any Area Cell. The only single criteria to enter membership is the ownership of a Vee-engine motorcycle.

In VOG - NO OBLIGATION IS IMPOSED on members - thus allowing persons to live their biking experience as they wish as an individual, provided that such freedom is singularly practiced and not used to create a group of riders within a recognised VOG Area Cell.

Other membership: There are other classes of membership available as well.

One is the "Contender Membership" which allows a person/s membership rights, specifically to take on any one or more of the VOG Challenges. It is a term membership of one year, does not allow any privileges as are given to normal members. Introduced as a result of some demand from members of other clubs & international visitors to partake in the VOG Challenge programme. Here you need to complete the details against item f) above.

VOG Membership constitution requires the following commitment:

As a member of VOG I promise to conduct myself in a manner that will heighten the respect of the general public towards motor cyclists, and especially so, the V Owners Group. I promise to maintain my motorcycle to better than minimal roadworthy expectations and always present my motorcycle with pride (clean / polished / free of road dirt / oil-leaks / missing parts / smooth tyres etc) I promise not to show intolerance to persons of other race / gender / language / creed, religion or culture and will make every effort to demonstrate good example by my actions and speech, and so be a credit to other motorcyclists and the VOG at all times. I promise to distribute VOG Intro-cards to all local bike shops in my location and promote VOG and group membership to all eligible Vee Engined Owners. I promise to contribute to building a strong base for camaraderie and good will.

VOG's greatest assets lie in the membership, those who have become a part of the group, carrying their colours with pride and ready always to participate and make VOG a wholesome and respected biking organisation where value is added to ownership by their unselfish and even generous natures in being objective in building the brotherhood in any way they can. If you are considering membership do you have doubts about fitting in? Will you be well received, welcomed into the family with sincerity?

Well it really all depends on you . . . friendships are made because you are friendly and approachable and the best way ever to earn a place in the ranks is to show pride of colour and culture, to be a builder and give something of yourself to the group effort.

Here is a little rhyme which was given to me and I felt it had a place in discerning the values of membership. Please enjoy it with me.

WHICH ARE YOU

SOME MEMBERS KEEP THE GROUP STRONG
WHILE OTHER JOIN JUST TO BELONG
SOME DIG RIGHT IN; SERVE WITH PRIDE
SOME GO ALONG JUST FOR THE RIDE

SOME VOLUNTEER TO DO THEIR SHARE
WHILE SOME LIE BACK AND JUST DON’T CARE
SOME DO THEIR BEST, SOME HELP, SOME MAKE
BUT SOME DO NOTHING, ONLY TAKE

SOME GREET NEW MEMBERS WITH A SMILE
AND MAKE THEIR COMING SO WORTHWHILE
WHILE SOME GO ON THEIR MERRY WAY
NO GREETING OR KIND WORD TO SAY

SOME HELP THE GROUP TO GROW AND GROW
WHEN ASKED TO HELP THEY DON’T SAY NO!
SOME DRAG, SOME PULL, SOME DON’T, SOME DO
CONSIDER WHICH OF THESE IS YOU?
